In the latest betas of IOS 18, iPadOS 18 and Mac OS Sequoia, apple has announced a feature called "distraction control" helping its users to clean up messy websites. The new tool callled Distraction Control allows the users to hide annoying part of web pages like pop ups asking for email address or cookie permission requests.

The users can turn the feature on from safari's menu and then tap on part of a website they want to hide . The users wont need to rehide it again after once its done as the choices will be automatically saved and hidden whenever the website is revisited.

But apple announces that the feature isnt meant for blocking ads as it wont be able to change things such as rotating advertisement.

In order to make it clear about the limitations of this particular feature Safari will show up a message explaining about it.

Lets say that a user uses distraction control to hide a cookie consent banner its like they clicked it close it without making a choice. The website will have to decide what to do next based on that.

The users will have the choice to always bring back the hidden parts of their website if they change their mind with a click on the option "Show hidden Items" in the safari menu.

The feature isnt open for the users right now. Only the app developers testing the new software can try the distraction control feature. The public will likely get to use it when the new operating systems come out by September 2024
