A Tata Nexon EV caught fire next to the Mumbai airport's Terminal 1 building on the evening of August 21, 2024. Tata Nexon EV Fire Incident
As per information, the driver was alone in the car when the fire sparked. When the driver noticed the fire, he drove over to the side of the road and safely left his vehicle. Firefighters arrived quickly and successfully extinguished the fire.The fire appears to have flared up under the Nexon EV's bonnet, that carries the motor and high-voltage connections. A few weeks ago, the Mumbai Fire Safety Department discussed banning EV charging in parking areas. This recommendation was made to decrease EV fires in community parking lots, which are difficult to reach.
